Breathing New Life into a Grand Old Lady of Mexico City

Overlooking a leafy park in Mexico City’s ever-burgeoning Roma neighborhood, stands what is poised to be ATRA’s most iconic project in the capital to date. Casa MACHU, as the stately turn-of-the-century manor will be known after it begins its new life as a member’s club, is as ambitious as it is beautiful.

Slated to open February 2019, ATRA’s cross-industry team of architects, interior and furniture designers is currently hard at work breathing new life into the storied halls of this erstwhile aristocratic home. To do this, they have created a design language rooted in soft, smooth, and curvy shapes that highlight the manor’s natural elegance while preserving its historical value. This minimalist, feminine aesthetic seeks to compliment, rather than upstage the ornate interiors, granite columns, and exquisite hardwood floors it must coexist with. As a result, the renovated spaces are imbued with a warm brand of luxury that will make club members feel as cozy in this palatial setting as they would in their own living rooms.

Once completed, Casa MACHU will feature five retail points, a state-of-the-art movie theater, and will be home to art exhibits, workshops, and cultural happenings.
